The University of Oregon has recently earned the reputation for withholding information and limiting input from members of the University community and the citizens of the State of Oregon.
As a public institution of the State, the University must conduct its business in an open and public manner.
In fact, the President of the University, Dave Frohnmayer, is a lifelong supporter of public records and meetings laws and is an honorary co-chair of the Open Oregon coalition, a body with the purpose to,
"...assist and educate the general public, students, educators, public officials, media and legal professionals to understand and exercise...Their rights to open government... (and) Their rights and responsibilities under the Oregon Public Meetings and Records laws."
Let us all do our best to keep the University of Oregon a truly public institution.
